Critters
Very old school horror. One of the classics in my mind. The effects don't look that great when you view them with todays jaded eye, but I think it's still a good movie.
Legends of the Fall
This movie has a gigantic heart beat.
The Matrix
I love this premise... The first movie was the most brillantly executed.
Groundhog Day (Special 15th Anniversary Edition)
Put your little hand in mine...
Flatliners
Seeking out that other realm.
Gremlins (Special Edition)
Don't laugh but I used to have the Gizmo pillow case... Man I wish I still had that joint :)
Westworld
Yul should've played a part in the coming (one of these years) Gunslinger/DarkTower movie. Eastwood should've played Roland. Perhaps Yul coulda been Walter?
Stephen King's Storm of the Century
This is one of those full on immersion movies... IF you aren't willing to assimilate to the atmosphere of this story you're better off watching something else. This is one for those who DELVE.
Dead Like Me: The Complete Collection
Rarely, if ever, have writers addressed the issues of life and death and what happens in between in such a comically sarcastic, yet beautifully poetic way. This show deserved the time to grow toward a more natural conclusion. It just goes to show that network executives have no idea how many people are actually watching. It's my personal opinion that they ought to take online polls before they prematurely kill a show. People are busy in life. It's often a good year or two before they even discover some of these new shows. By that time many of them have met with an early demise. Reaped if you like that better. Leaving us all to wonder how they died: Was it the cockroach that fell into the batter mixer, which the distracted chef attempted to scoop out with a giant metal spoon, which caught in the blending arm, instantly shearing, sending shrapnel out of the kitchen into the dining area, which then splayed the juglar of the only person who cared??????
City Slickers (Collector's Edition)
It's all about that one thing...
Tango and Cash
FUBAR...
Tombstone
I'm your Huckleberry...
Weird Science (Flashback Edition)
It's my creation...
Scarface (Widescreen Anniversary Edition)
The World Is Your's...
2001: A Space Odyssey
I don't really have the words... but it should be sufficient to say that it's one of Stanley's most masterful pieces.
Sphere
Decent movie/Awesome book.
Armageddon
Leavin' on a jet plane... don't know when I'll be home aGain.
The Fifth Element (Ultimate Edition)
We're sending someone in to negotiate!
Creepshow
The first one was pretty good. I love watching King ham it up on screen.
E.T. - The Extra-Terrestrial (2-Disc Widescreen Limited Collector's Edition)
One of my favorite movies as a kid... I haven't watched it much as an adult, but that doesn't change the way I feel about it.
Hustle and Flow [HD DVD]
June '09---I just watched this movie tonight... And I have to admit I was blown away. Living the writer's life you are always behind... on movies and music; because your main focus has to be writing and reading. Waiting allowed me to watch it without any preconceived notions of what kind of movie it was going to be. Had I watched it back when... I might've been clouded by thoughts that it was just another rap game movie: And it's something much more than that. I'd strongly suggest that all those with artistic endeavors (which give them no peace of mind lest they're being delved into), should give this movie a look. And let its inspirational heart guide you back to YOUR creative soul!
The Thing [Blu-ray]
A dang good remake.
Independence Day (Two-Disc Collector's Edition)
Here's one where we triumph in the end, that's always a plus.
Cocoon / Cocoon 2 - The Return
I like alien stories, even the ones where they are hell bent on destroying us. Not that this one falls into that category.
Short Circuit (Special Edition)
One of the rare few portrayals of an artificial intelligence where it isn't trying to send us to hell in a hand basket. Love it.
Robinson Crusoe
Really good movie. Another where I wish I would've read the book first.
The Hannibal Lecter Anthology (Hannibal / The Silence of the Lambs)
No one plays sick and twisted like Anthony Hopkins. Good movies all round, but the books by Thomas Harris are spectacular.
Young Guns & Young Guns 2
Young Guns 2 was a bedtime movie. Living in a rural area there wasn't ever much on the few channels we received so I used to watch this movie just about every night. Rotating it out with several others occasionally. I still enjoy watching it today.
The Road Warrior / Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome (Double Feature)
Classically awesome early Gibson. Should be in any serious movie collectors library.
Kill Bill Vols. 1 & 2 (Box Set)
I used to have this 'till someone broke into my apartment. I love just about everything Tarantino has ever made. David Carradine in one of his best roles ever, and Uma smashed the mold.
Hellraiser: Boxed Set
Man I wish I had this box set. I've always liked these movies. Clive Barker is one seriously depraved cat. Gotta love it.
X-Men Trilogy (X-Men / X2: X-Men United / X-Men: The Last Stand) [Blu-ray]
I've always loved the X-Men.
The Punisher
I'm big on revenge stories and making evil people pay the price. I like the first one just about as well as I like this one, but that War Zone movie is a piece of crap.
Stargate SG-1: The Complete Series Collection
Wished like a Mutha I had this. I've seen almost the entire show, but my interest sorta waned after Richard Dean Anderson left the show.
Smallville - The Complete Sixth Season
In no other medium ('cept maybe the comics) have they put forth so much effort in exploring these long beloved characters. The writers did an amazing job at spiraling new twists on an classic story. And the actors truly made the parts their own. May Superman live on in our hearts, dreams, and mediums forever.
Braveheart (Special Collector's Edition)
Prolly my favorite Mel Gibson movie. Mainly because I love this kind of period story, and the rich history behind the lore of William Wallace. And certainly it revitalized Scotland and any time a movie can do that it's priceless.
Lethal Weapon - The Complete Series
I've seen these movies so much that when I sit down for a Lethalathon it's truly like visiting old friends.
Steven Spielberg Presents Taken
An awesome alien abduction story that manages to tie the lore together almost flawlessly.
Superman - 4 Film Favorites
Superman is the shiz. I even like some of the animated movies. While I still like Lois and Clark, it was a little too comedic for my taste. Today my SuperLove goes out to Smallville.
Big Fish
Oddball adventure story with an underlying morality statement about life. I love it.
Ace Ventura: Pet Detective
This movie still manages to wrangle a laugh out of me, even though I've seen it a thousand times. So many that I'm not even sure that exagerration is that far off base.
Predator (Widescreen Collector's Edition)
Let the hunt begin.
Alien Quadrilogy (Alien/ Aliens /Alien 3 /Alien Resurrection)
Awesome movies, and a good example of why alien intervention might not be the best idea. Lol.
Sliders - The First and Second Seasons
Travel to Parallel dimensions... this trip is for strong imaginations only. Dullards and skeptics need not apply.
Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story
A must see for Bruce's fans.
Highlander - The Complete Series (Seasons 1-6)
I loved the movies but this series is phenomenal.
Northern Exposure - The Complete Series
I've always loved this quirky show.
Rambo - The Complete Collector's Set (First Blood - Ultimate Edition / Rambo - First Blood Part II - Ultimate Edition / Rambo II
You'd be hard pressed to find someone of my generation who doesn't like Rambo.
Navy Seals
The Top Gun of Frog Man movies.
Platoon - 20th Anniversary Collector's Edition (Widescreen)
One of the best war movies ever.
Enemy at the Gates
One of my favorite Sniper movies. And I believe it is based on a true story.
The Running Man (Special Edition)
Futuristic Game Show of Death need I say more....
Cast Away (Two-Disc Special Edition)
Hanks is great in this movie. When you really consider the fact that he's alone for the greater portion of the movie yet is able to keep you interested and vested in the character right up to the last it really illuminates how awesome an actor he is.
The Shawshank Redemption (Single Disc Edition)
I love period pieces, and this is one of the better adaptations of Stephen King's work.
Casino (Widescreen 10th Anniversary Edition)
Pesci and Deniro are a pair made in acting heaven especially when it comes to Gangster movies. Compound that by the fact that Casino like Goodfellas is based on a true story, and fuuhhgett about it.
American Ninja Collection (1 / 2 / 3 / 4 / 5)
The first few are good, but this is really a niche movie series. Martial Arts fans'll love it. When I was young a Ninja's all I ever wanted to be. Lol. Most children want to be Firemen, or Policemen, but not me. Kung Fu theatre was a Saturday ritualistic tradition.
The Lord of the Rings: The Motion Picture Trilogy (Theatrical Editions) [Blu-ray]
I don't even have a Blue Ray player but I like the covers. Lol. These movies were great but unfortunately they ruined the books for me. I sure wish I would've had the presence of mind to read the novels first.
Road House [Blu-ray]
One of my favorite movies. Swayze's good in this but Sam Elliot almost steals the show.
Puppet Master 3-D UNRATED Puppetmaster in 2D & 3D
This link is for the movie in 3-D. I've never seen a movie in 3-D I bet this one would be pretty cool to watch that way. The sequel to this one's not bad but after that...
Dreamcatcher (Widescreen Edition)
Good movie/great adaptation, but the characters true depth didn't come across on the big screen like they did in the book.
Minority Report (Widescreen Edition)
Good movie/decent adaptation.
Mission Impossible (Special Collector's Edition)
The sequels sucked but this was a good movie.
Total Recall (Special Limited Edition)
Get your ass to Mars... get your ass to Mars... get your ass to Mars... I love Philip K. Dick adaptations.
Halloween
Classic Horror that still stands the test of time.
Howard the Duck - Summer Comedy Movie Cash
At times this movie's a bit cheesy and many who watch it today might complain about the effects but they were cutting edge for their time. I watched it again for probably the sixth time in my life when I discovered HULU, and I still like it even today.
*Batteries Not Included
Good Family movie.
Of Mice & Men
It just so happens that I watched this one last night (June 08th, '09). I've seen it several times throughout my life and it's still a great movie.
The Beastmaster (Special Edition)
I still watch this movie when it comes on. Kodo and Podo, man did I ever wish I had me some ferrets when I was a kid.
Christine
I'm a big Stephen King fan, and this is one of the best adaptations of his work.
Explorers
Good Family Movie.
The Monster Squad (Two-Disc 20th Anniversary Edition)
Same pack of friends theme that I've always loved with a horror twist. Would've been nice to have seen this one at the Drive In.
Showdown in Little Tokyo
The name says it all.
Bloodsport
The best movie Jean Claude VanDame ever made.
Stand By Me (Special Edition)
These were some great child actors, in one of my favorite movies of all time. It's a damn shame that River Phoenix didn't live. Out of all the actors I think that kid had some serious talent.
La Femme Nikita - The Complete First Five Seasons
I loved this series and the movies that it is based upon. Peta Wilson nailed it. Better even than any of her predecessors.
The Abyss (Special Edition)
Man could we ever use some alien intervention right now. Stunningly visual. Absolutely epic.
The X-Files Movie 2-Pack (I Want to Believe / Fight the Future) [Blu-ray]
Though I liked the first movie more than the second I think they both paled in comparison to the series.
GoldenEye (Special Edition)
Definitely my favorite new age Bond movie. Brosnan was a decent Bond, but I haven't taken to Craig.
The Nightmare on Elm Street Collection
I like all these movies, but my favorite's got to be Dream Warriors. I can't lie I saw the first one pretty much as soon as it came out on tape (jeez that was a long time ago) and it scared the crap out of me. Watching it now it just looks cheezy, but certainly it's still creepy. What do I remember the most: One, Two, Freddy's comin' for you; Three, Four, better lock the door; Five, Six grab a crucifix....
The Terminator
If people were conscious of the true implications of this story I get the feeling they wouldn't take the notion of Artificial Intelligence so lightly. But this is definitely one of the greatest movies of all time. Along with its sequel which I'll be listing next.
The Goonies
Kids/Exploration-Adventure... what's not to love?
Back to the Future - The Complete Trilogy (Widescreen Edition)
I've watched these movies countless times throughout my life. I've always loved theorizing about time travel. And for a light hearted comedy it explores some of the possible issues that could arise fairly well. Making it so that your average person can understand the perils involved without talking down to them.
Terminator: Salvation [Blu-ray]
There was so much anticipation over this movie that I doubt they could've ever made it live up to the public's expectation. They certainly wouldn't've been able to tell the story they needed to tell in the two hour window they had. But they are so greedy these days that instead of making one extra long movie that has a chance of achieving greatness they want to split what is really one story up into three parts. Had they done it in two they still could've made the same amount of money and created something that would surely go down in cinema history. Many folks were mighty upset about this one, so I doubt if there will be much of a turnout for the next one. Personally I liked it despite its obvious flaws. Certainly it's better than the last one.
Terminator 2 - Judgment Day (The Ultimate Edition DVD)
Rarely ever does a sequel deliver as well as the original but I'm of the opinion that this one did. I won't be listing the next in the series because while I did like it, I don't think it deserves a spot on this list. Instead I'll list the newest movie, since that one is closer to the follow up that its fans deserved.
Kung Fu - The Complete Series Collection
I've always loved this series but now more than ever it needs to be put on the forefront. Last night we lost one of the greatest actors of all time. RIP David Carradine, you will be missed terribly.
Enter the Dragon
Because it's one of the greatest Martial Arts films ever made; if not THE...
The Crow (Miramax/Dimension Collector's Series)
Pleasantly Poesque, dark, and touchingly beautiful... simultaneously. And it's one of the few adaptations where the heart and soul of the original work shines though... the man said.
GoodFellas
A gangster movie which portrays the way things actually were in "The Life" at that time period. More so than any other film to date. The actors are phenomenal.
Highlander
This movie has spawned a mythos, and cult like following. Once one discovers the Highlander Universe there is so much story to be had. It is a tale of truly Epic proportions.
